在国外，也有这样一首著名的励志诗。
《If》是1907年诺贝尔文学奖获得者，英国作家Rudyard Kipling吉卜林写给12岁儿子的励志诗。
它曾被译成27国语言作为学习教材，里面的许多句子成为各国青年奋斗路上的座右铭。据说，迈克尔·杰克逊的墓志铭就是这首诗。
作者吉卜林出生于印度孟买，曾旅居美国、加拿大、印度、南非等多个国家。
他一生共创作了8部诗集，4部长篇小说，21部短篇小说和历史故事集，1907年凭借《基姆》获得诺贝尔文学奖。当时年仅42岁的他，是至今为止最年轻的诺贝尔文学奖得主。
这首诗就是他的诗歌代表作之一。
全诗以一位父亲的口吻，将对年幼儿子的谆谆教诲娓娓道来，字里行间流露出对他的关怀和深切的疼爱。
诗中写到许多生活中可能遇到的磨难与考验，以及父亲教给孩子的应对方法，因为饱含真情，所以格外打动人。

If you can keep your head when all about you,
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
